La trama si ispira alla storia vera dell'artista canadese Bill
Lishman, che realmente compì l'impresa di guidare a destinazione uno stormo di oche selvatiche ed estese poi il
progetto ad altri volatili in via di estinzione al fine di poterli reintegrare nel loro ambiente originario.
Il
film è stato Candidato all'Oscar per la Miglior Fotografia.

Amy ha 14 anni. Sopravvissuta all'Incidente in
cui è morta la madre, va a vivere con il padre che fa lo scultore/inventore in una fattoria del Canada. Un giorno
scopre delle uova di Oca Canadese e quando si schiudono si prende cura dei piccoli e fa loro da mamma con un certo
successo.
Insorgono però dei problemi quando giunge il momento della migrazione.
Come insegnare alle Oche a
volare verso Sud?
Avendo capito quanto questi animali siano importanti per la figlia, il padre insegna ad Amy a
pilotare un Ultraleggero, grazie al quale riuscirà a farsi seguire dallo stormo di anatroccoli in formazione di un
“Incredibile Volo” verso la Carolina del Nord.
